On May 6th from 9 to 4, you can come celebrate the 225th Anniversary of the victory at Fort Watson with Revolutionary War battle re-enactments, an encampment and a Wildlife Expo. This is an opportunity for you to walk where General Francis Marion and Lt.-Col. Harry Lee did in 1781.

Re-enactors and volunteers demonstrate battles and living history such as: gunsmithing, lace-making, open-fire cooking and textile production, blacksmithing, woodworking, musket firing and music playing. The whole family can enjoy 18th century games like archery, hawk throwing and stilt walking, and share camp life. The Wildlife and Nature Expo includes guided nature walks/talks, wildlife exhibits & more. Every second Friday (next dates: April 14, May 12) Old Town Petersburg, VA (Exit 52) stays open late (6-10 pm) and becomes a strolling wonderland of art works. Many venues including art galleries, restaurants, stores, etc. have gotten caught up in the event, offering opening receptions for their art exhibition with wine, cheese or nibbles. The Volvo Ocean Race is an 8-month round the world sailing race which travels through 4 oceans. The ships arrive near Baltimore’s Fort McHenry about April 17 on Leg 5. To celebrate the arrival of the boats, Baltimore and Annapolis will host numerous events.

Baltimore Waterfront Festival will last from April 27-30 with live music, family fun and plenty of seafood. In honor of the race, several ships will be docked at the Inner Harbor, and some are open for public tours: Stad Amsterdam, Pride of Baltimore II, Virginia, Majestic Star, Gazella and SchoonerSultana. You might also enjoy Dragon Boat Races, the Volvo Extreme 40s and Discovery Sailing. On April 29th there’s in-port racing.
