Re-enactors and volunteers demonstrate battles and living history such as: gunsmithing, lace-making, open-fire cooking and textile production, blacksmithing, woodworking, musket firing and music playing. The whole family can enjoy 18th century games like archery, hawk throwing and stilt walking, and share camp life. Many venues including art galleries, restaurants, stores, etc. have gotten caught up in the event, offering opening receptions for their art exhibition with wine, cheese or nibbles. The ships arrive near Baltimore?s Fort McHenry about April 17 on Leg 5. To celebrate the arrival of the boats, Baltimore and Annapolis will host numerous events. Baltimore Waterfront Festival will last from April 27-30 with live music, family fun and plenty of seafood. In honor of the race, several ships will be docked at the Inner Harbor, and some are open for public tours: Stad Amsterdam, Pride of Baltimore II, Virginia, Majestic Star, Gazella and SchoonerSultana.
